MacGizmoGuy : Ipevo WiFi Wireless Skype Phone S0-20 Review – Free 2 Roam VOIP Handset

mac-voip-chat.com – Mac-Gizmo tests out iPevo’s SO-20 Wireless Skype phone. A roaming Wi-Fi cordless VOIP hand set that′s letting me make and take calls in the cabin and out in the yard. With a special version of Skype built into the OS – my existing Skype contact list (already from my Apple Mac setup) is available once I connect to my router and log in. With low-cost pay-per-minute or flat-rate monthly calling plans, I can enjoy long distance at a fraction of my local telco rates. After puzzling through the all too brief Quick-Start guide, I eventually figured out how to connect to my Wi-Fi router, enter my Skype ID and password. Documentation is a little skimpy. But once set up – it′s pretty much set it and forget it simple to call direct or choose from my Skype contact list. That easy. PS I forgot to mention the Ipevo phone also has a standard headset jack on the side – and that NO software installation is needed – it′s all built into the phone.

We′ve just had the snom 820 VoIP handset in. For snom it′s a big shift – a change in design and a definite pitch for the high end. Here′s our initial impressions and the setup process. Subscribe to our video feed and you’ll get to see our review just as soon as it comes out.

Hello this is Jeff from IPEVO, would you mind telling me the email address you used to contact IPEVO so I can look into it and see what can we do for you.

Bought one, and 2 weeks later, it broke (randomly typed numbers, ringer turns on and off by itself) Of course, Ipevo never emailerd or called me back. Basically $130 for a piece of crap. I do not recommend it.

I’m looking to buy this phone, possibly. I have the skype iPhone app, but I need something that can be always-on and receive calls!

I know – it’s weird. I’ll never be celluar. I HATE phones! They RING when I’m trying to take a nap. And then people call and want to TALK! And to be cellular you have to like PAY EVERY MONTH for the rest of FOREVER! Quite annoying really… :)

Frankly I do think a current iPod Touch running Skype app would be a much more versatile, functional gizmo. I think these WiFi skype phones need to come waaaaaaaaaay down in price to be feasable.

And one other thing, how can you be a Gizmo Guy and not have a cell phone? I am shocked! Great work with the review, though.

Thanks for the review. I am considering a WiFi Skype Phone, came across the Ipevo at eBay and was curious enough to research and arrive here. I must say, though, that it seems that just buying an iPod Touch (refurb) for US$ 30 more at eBay could be a better deal.

Got something to say?
