I was so anxious for this phone to be released for the Verizon network….now I regret buying it! The phone hesitates when coming out of sleep mode to where I literally have to wait 8-12 seconds for it to respond to keying a phone number! It also has a tendency to “face dial” while I’m on the phone and about twice a day it randomly makes a call to a different number while I’m talking to someone.

I’ve had Samsung PDAs for years and should have never switched to the HTC. Regrets, regrets…

IT is generally a nice phone. But be aware, it is very slow for web-browsing and lag sometimes. I only need the basic functions, so the phone is OK for me.

    Updated 1/2010:

This phone sucks. I gave it another chance, however, as I predicted, it’s not good in an emergency. It just locks up for no apparent reason – the soft keys lock up. The design also is prone to human error. Plus, there’s no easy way to turn off bluetooth to use the speaker phone. You’re stuck on the bluetooth earpeice, even if you want to use the speak phone or the handset. So many things wrong with this phone, that I’m not going to take the time.

    My original review:

I have a Nokia e71x, Blackberry Bold, and HTC Tilt 2. The HTC has the “coolest” features and reception is exceptional, but the Blackberry is *by far* the most usable.

Many other users have waxed on about the features of the HTC. However, here are a few deal killers for me:

    1. My phone had a tendancy to “lock up”. I had to wait for up to 1 – 2 minutes for the phone to respond at times. If I needed to make an emergency call during these times, I would have been in trouble.

    2. Sometimes the screen saver won’t turn off or the screen won’t turn back on when someone calls. There was no way to turn it back on, other than powering down.

    3. The keys are extremely touchy. I’ve had the phone dial out repeatedly, even when I did not touch the screen. Additionally, the UI isn’t the greatest (eg, while scrolling through screens), so there are a lot of unintentionally dialed numbers, etc.

If my phone didn’t have these problems, I’d have liked it much more. I say “would have” because I got rid of it. Hence only 3 stars.

I purchased the Tilt 2 hoping that it would perform like the winner that it’s billed.

The Tilt 2 performed well until I started adding Apps.

I purchased and installed SPB Mobil Shell. After a while, the Tilt 2 locked up. I’d have to reset it to get it working again.

Then, I installed MyPlayer and Aloqa. Again, same problem!!

It seems any non-Microsoft app lockes up the Tilt 2. I never had a problem when using Microsoft My Phone, Bing, My Space for Windows Mobile or any Microsoft App. I thought it was the phone. I exchanged it and same thing happened.

And, I think it’s a bummer that Microsoft installed Software Version 6.5 on the Tilt 2 when Software Version 7 is to released any day now. And, no word on a freee upgrade.

I’m waiting for a confirmation from Amazon that they received my 2nd Return so that I can get me a Iphone from ATT Direct.

    Buyer Beware!!!

I have been using HTC phones for the past 3 or 4 years, because I am always a gadget lover. I spent $300 on this phone when it first came out, hoping the money will pay off.

Upon receiving the phone, I found that windows Live Mail was not installed; so I had to download from Internet and install Windows Live. Moreover, Live Mail only keeps 50 email headers. You could use a browser

to access hotmail website though, but you would rather have an email client.

However, the most difficult part is navigating through call history and contacts. There is no navigating button or arrows, so you use finger or stylus. I could never properly navigate Call-History without the phone

dialing out. As soon as you touch screen the phone will dial out so there is essentially no way to navigate through call history.

Camera is useless, because the back-cover is “vented”, meaning the camera inside is always

covered by dirt. I was hoping the camera would help me take some nice casual photos; no, it won’t.

In all, it is very difficult to use, even when you are a windows phone lover.
