Question by Princess of the Sun.: Can I be free from hackers if I buy a wireless computer with a wireless internet connection?
I am currently paralyzed by the thought of someone watching much of what I’m doing or writing on my computer. I can’t think freely knowing there are uninvited spectators seeing how I’m struggling with the essay I’m writing. I want to discuss personal issues with my family without any stranger listening. Can a wireless computer/ wireless connection get me my freedom again? Please help me with suggestions. I know nothing about computers. What type of computer or connection do I need?

well………. u can b hacked as long as u r on the internet……. be it the wireless or the wired……. u can always b hacked….. there is not a single type of computer or a connection which cannot b hacked…… well when ever u r writing or doing some personal thing get off from internet……… get urself disconnected…….. in this way no one can hack u…..

As long as you are connected to the internet, wired or wireless… doesnt make any different. What you would need is a solid protection for your PC. Antivirus, antispy, firewall, all those stuffs. Also, get familiar with the processes running on your computer, so that you can spot suspicious processes running on your computer when you see them. With all that I’ve said, google would be your best friend.
Wi-Fi connections are the most vulnerable if not protected properly.
This whole “hacking” thing is mostly scaremongering. As for people seeing what you’re doing on the computer, it’s virtually impossible. If you’re really worried, a decent firewall, even something free like Zone Alarm, and anti virus software, again something free like AVG will work fine. If you’re using wireless make sure you have wireless security, a WPA encryption key of decent length.
wired or wireless isn’t hacker free, or free from anyone that wants to listen in.
there is a good chance nobody is going to know what you are talking about, but you never know, hackers are smart, nobody can stop them.
Just make sure private stuff is only done over a secure connection
